Independent review of Welsh universities begins

An eight-member independent panel chaired by Professor Patrick Prendergast has held its first meeting to examine the future funding and organisation of Welsh higher education.

Its remit includes institutional finances, student support, research and long-term sustainability.

Why it matters: The review could shape future funding and the structure of Welsh higher education, with consequences for employment, research, regional economies and Welsh-medium provision.

No recommendations have yet been made.
