Welsh Government publishes four-year Programme for Government

The Welsh Government published its Programme for Government for 2026–2030, setting out the priorities it intended to pursue during the new Senedd term.

The programme concentrated on NHS waiting lists, childcare and living costs, good jobs, educational standards, child poverty and demands for a fairer constitutional and financial relationship with Westminster. A programme sets out the administration’s political objectives; it is not evidence that policies have been implemented or outcomes achieved.

Why it matters: The document offers journalists a benchmark: what is promised, what can be measured, what has been funded and what depends on cooperation with other public bodies.
