Cardiff Capital Region has launched its first Children’s Well-being Strategy, Growing Up Well in Cardiff Capital Region: Fairer Starts, Stronger Futures.
The five-year strategy seeks to connect economic development more closely with children’s opportunities, including access to employment, work experience, skills, transport and regional investment.
The organisation says it intends to complement rather than duplicate the responsibilities of councils, schools and other public services.
Why it matters: Economic growth does not automatically improve children’s life chances. Linking transport and investment decisions to educational and employment opportunities could help address inequalities between communities across South East Wales.
Status: Strategy launched. The announcement does not establish new funding allocations or measurable improvements in child poverty.
