Deputy First Minister Sioned Williams has outlined plans to strengthen the relationship between the Welsh Government and the voluntary sector.
Ministers have reaffirmed their commitment to a funding code encouraging multi-year grants where appropriate and possible, alongside a renewed vision for volunteering.
The Senedd debate highlighted the problems caused by short-term funding, including uncertainty over staffing, service continuity and organisational planning.
Why it matters: Charities and community organisations deliver services supporting people across Wales, often alongside councils and the NHS. Short funding cycles can make it difficult to retain staff or plan services.
Status: Ministerial commitments and policy principles, not a universal guarantee of multi-year funding. The Government has not announced that all existing one-year grants will be converted.
