Swansea Bay University Health Board has confirmed a small number of scabies cases at Morriston Hospital in Swansea.
The health board says affected families have been informed and treatment or guidance provided to patients, staff and relatives. Some visiting restrictions have been introduced.
Scabies is a skin infestation caused by mites and usually spreads through prolonged close skin contact.
Why it matters: Infection control is particularly important in hospital environments where patients may be vulnerable. Families intending to visit should check the relevant ward’s arrangements before travelling.
Status: Confirmed cases and limited visiting restrictions. No hospital-wide visiting ban or large outbreak has been established.
