Welsh ministers agree longer-term funding model for integrated health and social care

The Welsh Government has approved future funding arrangements for the Regional Integration Fund and Integration and Rebalancing Capital Fund from April 2027.

The decision retains a recurrent funding model with ongoing five-year programme cycles, rather than relying entirely on short-term funding arrangements.

Why it matters: Integrated health and social care programmes support cooperation between local authorities, health boards and other providers. Longer-term funding can improve workforce planning, service continuity and the ability to develop support that helps people remain independent.

The decision does not yet disclose the future funding totals or individual regional allocations.

Status: Confirmed policy decision on funding arrangements, not evidence of additional services already delivered.
