The Welsh Government has updated its consultation outcome concerning the establishment of a Social Care Negotiating Body for Wales.
The consultation received 63 responses.
Respondents broadly supported establishing an independent body with balanced representation from employers and workers, supported by transparent governance and reliable evidence.
The proposed body would negotiate fair pay agreements for the social care workforce.
Why it matters: Social care remains a relatively low-paid sector, with recruitment and retention challenges affecting care homes, domiciliary services and local authorities.
A negotiating body could help establish more consistent employment conditions across Wales.
However, improved pay will also require agreement about how additional costs are financed.
Status: Consultation findings published. No new national pay rate has been agreed.
