New Welsh taxation legislation enters parliamentary scrutiny

The Taxation (Wales) Bill was introduced yesterday, proposing changes to how devolved taxes are administered and enforced.

The Bill is particularly relevant to the Welsh Revenue Authority and the sharing of information between public bodies.

Why it matters: Effective tax administration influences public revenue, compliance costs and accountability. The proposed information-sharing powers also merit scrutiny for data protection and proportionality.

The Bill has not been passed.
