Ministers have begun work on a Climate and Nature Action Plan intended to join up the response to emissions, biodiversity loss and climate-related risks.
The Welsh Government has proposed a Climate and Nature Board chaired by minister Llyr Gruffydd to inform and challenge delivery. The announcement describes a goal of net zero by 2040 alongside substantive nature recovery by 2050. It recognises pressures from flooding, wildfires, polluted rivers and changes affecting farming and communities. Starting work on a plan does not mean the measures or spending were finalised.
Why it matters: The plan will need credible milestones and clear accountability for choices that affect land use, industry and public investment.
