The Welsh Government announced an additional £145 million for NHS Wales in 2026–27, prioritising treatment waiting times and diagnostic capacity.
The package included £100 million of revenue funding to address waiting lists, £25 million for surgical and diagnostic hubs and £20 million for essential maintenance. Ministers also planned up to ten hubs over four years. The funding was announced alongside efforts to improve primary care and opportunities for new healthcare graduates. Money allocated is not the same as additional treatments delivered.
Why it matters: The important measures are waiting-list numbers, waits by specialty and health board, hub operating dates and outcomes for patients.
