The Welsh Government has confirmed that its revised Second Supplementary Budget for 2026–27 will be debated and voted on today.
The package includes:
| Proposed allocation | Amount |
|---|---|
| NHS Wales | £145m |
| Additional Learning Needs | £60m |
| Childcare | £55m |
| School maintenance | £40m |
| Social housing | £20m |
| Extended free school meals | £15m |
| Young people’s bus fares | £8m |
| Community facilities | £5m |
| Other programmes, including Cynnal and school swimming | Further allocations |
The £145 million NHS allocation includes £100 million towards reducing waiting lists, £25 million for surgical and diagnostic hubs, and £20 million for maintenance.
The budget was previously rejected by the Senedd in July. The Welsh Government subsequently reached an agreement with Welsh Labour to include an additional £60 million for Additional Learning Needs.
Why it matters: The vote will determine whether the revised spending proposals secure parliamentary approval. It will also provide an opportunity to examine how quickly the money can reach services and what outcomes ministers expect.
Status: Proposed spending awaiting today’s vote. The £354 million is not entirely new funding announced yesterday: most allocations were originally proposed in June.
