Natural Resources Wales has launched its annual Be Flood Ready campaign.
The organisation estimates that approximately 275,000 properties in Wales are at risk of flooding, equivalent to roughly one in seven homes and businesses.
The warning follows a summer affected by drought and wildfires, with NRW emphasising the need to prepare for autumn and winter storms.
NRW also highlighted proposals for new tidal flood defences in Cardigan, intended to reduce flooding affecting approximately 90 properties.
Why it matters: Flood risk presents growing challenges for housing, infrastructure, insurance, local government budgets and emergency planning.
The announcement does not indicate that flooding is imminent. It is a preparedness campaign supported by existing risk assessments.
