The Welsh Government has confirmed that two projects in Llanidloes and Machynlleth will receive a combined £1.19 million through Ynni Cymru.
The funding is part of the wider £8.27 million programme announced yesterday, rather than a separate additional allocation.
The projects aim to increase locally generated renewable electricity and reduce energy costs for community organisations and households.
Why it matters: Community-owned or locally controlled energy could help rural communities retain more of the economic benefits of renewable generation.
The key measure will be actual reductions in bills, compared with the projected savings used to justify investment.
